Dance Strengthening & Rehab
What is it?
With the intense training dancers both competitive and recreational do regularly, it is no surprise that they are at risk of many overuse and traumatic injuries. Some of the most common affected areas are ankles, knees, hips, low back and, for the acro dancers, the shoulders. A few common conditions are hamstring and hip flexor strains, ankle sprains, ACL + MCL sprains, and mechanical low back pain.
Strength on Points goal is to supplement traditional dance training by offering guidance on proper warm ups, conditioning and strength training. This rehab program will focus on mobility and strength training of the most commonly affected areas. Each class will contain a warm up, circuit style strength section and a cool down. The program will build on itself week to week, so dancers of any strength or level are welcome.
