3 ways to make the most out of movement this winter!

These winter months can be both long & cold. For many, the shorter days & colder temperatures can affect us both physically & mentally – especially when it comes to movement and physical activity.

But just because it’s less than desirable temperatures out there, that does not mean we can’t keep moving and staying active.

Here are our top 3 tips for staying active this winter & making the most out of movement.

#1. Find an outdoor activity you enjoy:

I know, it’s way easier to get outside when the weather is warm. But if you find a winter/snow activity you actually like to do, you will be way more inclined to get out there & do it. Some of our personal favourites are: skiing, ice skating, snowshoeing, and hiking.

#2. Take advantage of the sunny times & days:

If getting outside isn’t your cup of tea, then make sure those blinds are open. Let the sun shine into your indoor workout space. Which leads us to our third, and final tip…

#3. Try at home workouts:

If even stepping outside for one minute seems like too much cold exposure for you, don’t bother! Stay home and do an at home workout. Even if you don’t have any equipment, there are plenty of bodyweight/no equipment workouts you can find online. Our favourite free apps or avenues to find these are Youtube or the FitOn App.

We hope these tips can help you stay moving for the rest of this winter. And if you find that you have any nagging complaints that are preventing you from getting active, please reach out for an appointment!
